The team were called to this pub in Swindon which was undergoing refurbishment. The construction company involved in the refurbishment had noticed a serious problem with the hard flooring throughout the pub. 

The tiled and wooden floor had an overwhelming build up of ingrained dirt and excess polish. In the cleaning industry this is known as 'black top' and is usually caused by improper cleaning methods.

In this instance the pub’s own on site team had improperly used polish each time they mopped the floor resulting in many layers of dirty and discoloured polish all over the floor.

In order to restore this floor to its former glory, the hard thick layers of polish needed to be removed.  Our team took the photo shown above to illustrate the thickness of the polish that needed to be painstakingly removed. The team used both chemical and mechanical methods to soften and scrub off the polish.  The skilled team needed to ensure that the polish was carefully but totally removed without causing any damage to the wooden flooring with its tiled inlay.

The beautiful colours of the flooring are bought back to life by the extensive cleaning.  With the layers of polish and dirt removed the natural wooden and slate inlaid floor looks as good as the day it was laid.  The team carefully sealed the floor with an appropriate polish to protect the surface, making daily cleaning simply a matter of mopping the surface.  The floors will now be easy for the on site team to maintain.
