Poolside makeover by the T&H team
Learn how our team overcame the challenges of cleaning and re-decorating the poolside high level areas of this leisure centre - all whilst it stayed open!
It sounds like an impossible challenge, how can you possibly undertake a deep clean and redecoration project, metres above the floor level whilst keeping the site open to the public. We do love a challenge here at T&H!
Here's how we did it....
After an initial survey of the site we understood that our previously preferred method of high level access would not be suitable for this site. Our team would normally use a MEWP - a scissor lift or cherry picker - however the poolside tiled flooring cannot support the 2 tonne weight of this equipment. With this is mind, we were not defeated!
Preparation was required to undertake this work effectively and safely. Ahead of the project start date 2 members of the team undertook PASMA training. PASMA training focusses on competence and safety in putting up mobile scaffold towers. The team members enjoyed their training but more importantly gained the qualifications required to erect and dismantle scaffold towers safely for the use of the team.

Now we were fully qualified and prepared for the work!
Working within a leisure centre that intends to remain fully open is a challenge. Ensuring no disruption for the members, swimming lessons and various events that run during the day means our work has to take place at night.
A large team of skilled workers are drafted in to work over 4 nights to carefully vacuum dust from the concrete edges, ledges and window sills to before preparing the surfaces for a fresh coat of white paint. The hard to access high level edges had a serious coat of fluffy dust build up which needed to be removed. As a professional cleaning contractor we pride ourselves on having the right tools for every job that we undertake - this was no different. Using backpack vacuum cleaners with extension poles and a powerful industrial gutter vac our team made short work of the dust build up.

Here at T&H Contract Services we are able to offer a unique and comprehensive service to our clients. We provide our own painting and decorating team, as well as our own cleaning team. Working together the 2 teams complete the project more efficiently than using 2 separate contractors. Having all our own teams working on site enables us to co-ordinate the work more effectively and deliver the project to a great standard, on schedule and on budget.
Working systematically, section by section, the team cleaned and prepared the surfaces ready for paint. Our painting team followed behind them, using the carefully erected scaffold tower, to paint the white wall sections. Freshly painted sections showed as bright brilliant white against the dull old paintwork. Once completed the poolside area will look light and bright throughout.
After the scheduled works for the night were completed, everything was carefully dismantled and removed from site. Apart from the smell of a fresh coat of paint and some dust free high level ledges there was no trace of our activities to await the early morning swimmers. A well co-ordinated effort by both teams. We are proud of their commitment to delivering an excellent service for our client.
